Multi-instrumentalist with decades of performance and teaching experience.
Percussionist, Harpsichordist, Pianist, and Teacher. Classically trained and creatively inspired. Following my curiosity.
An original voice in music performance and education, Sean Kleve combines a true love and academic understanding of music into a language understandable for students and audiences of all ages and interests.
Whether you want to discuss early music from the Italian Renaissance, the newest music by today’s living composers, or anything in between, Sean is well-versed, practiced, and interested in nearly all classical and popular music styles.
Percussion, marimba, and timpani.
And the hundreds of other instruments that make up the percussion family of instruments. Sean specializes in just about any instrument that can be hit to produce sound. His diverse repertoire spans the 20th and 21st centuries, dozens of commissioned new works, and arrangements of Bach and other Baroque composers.
Harpsichord and the art of historical performance.
A relatively new addition to the early music scene, Sean is a harpsichord specialist, exploring the emotional and musical impact of historical tuning, figured bass improvisation, and the large depth of solo and chamber music from the 18th century and earlier.
Teaching for everyone.
Whether it’s a public masterclass or teaching privately, Sean brings a passion and energy to his teaching that allows students to perform at their personal best. Learning a musical instrument is a complex task that requires a lot of work and dedication. Sean’s understanding of how to breakdown musical elements into bite-sized bits of information helps students to gain literacy and eventually teach themselves over time.
