Generation Baroque

Generation Baroque presents early music on period-specific instruments. Just as the performers and audiences in today's performances span multiple different generational and cultural backgrounds, the music from the Baroque period stretched across these sizable barriers as well. From Italy, to Germany and France, and throughout the developing musical world in Western Europe, the Baroque period spanned centuries. For this reason, Generation Baroque believes in performance practice closely adhering to the specific time and place that this music was conceived. It is this curiosity in the time period and culture that reveals so much about the meaning and emotional impact of this golden period of musical creativity.

Rasmussen-Kleve Duo

Long before the dominance of the string quartet, the modern cello, and the modern piano, the viola da gamba and harpsichord reigned supreme over the world of music in the home and the court. For approximately 500 years, the technologies and sensibilities around music resulted in a plethora of varied repertoire for this often-overlooked instrumental combination. The Rasmussen-Kleve duo performs music from the baroque and early classical period on historically appropriate instruments with a flare for dance and articulation.
